pre-grad science fun

My parents and I did a few touristy things on the Saturday before graduation. The NASA Research Center was having an open house of their facilities so we attended. They had a variety of interactive displays, and we got to tour most of the facilities (such as their anti-gravity chamber, wind tunnels, and ice-research facility).


My mom and I are in the acoustic research chamber. They fire up engines in this building and record the sound they make. All those triangle things on the walls damper the noise so they can get accurate readings on decibel levels and such.


My parents are standing in a large wind tunnel on the NASA campus. They can get the wind speeds up to mac 2 (whatever that means...but it's definitly fast!).



We also went to a 3-D presentation on some of the latest stuff happening at NASA. The best part was a few slides (in 3-D) about satellites circling the earth. Quite a number of things are rotating around us!
