The Outdoor Market at the VA

The West Los Angeles Veteran's Administration Hospital has a HUGE campus. It has everything from a golf course to a parrot sanctuary mixed in with the regular hospital buildings. Today, near the parrot sanctuary, they had a terrific outdoor market.

There were a variety of food vendors there...including ones selling lovely piled sausages.


However, Mike, Christina, and I chose pupusas to eat for lunch. Pupusas originated in El Salvador and consist of a thick tortilla dough which is stuffed with ingredients (veggies, meat, cheese) and then cooked over a hot grill. It is served with a spicy, pickled cabbage salad and spicy tomato sauce. Very tasty.




We ate under shade trees which kept dropping their small orange fruits on us.


The fruits and vegetables were all arrange so beautifully!




Such colors everywhere!


Mike got a lime tree for their balcony..and we drove home with it in Christina's convertible with the top down.
